Event Icon Events are customizable, reusable action sequences that can be created and added to your Experience Icon Experience. You can add Icon Conditions to determine how the Event Icon Event is triggered (e.g., when a Variable Icon Variable is equal to a certain value, when an input is entered by a participant) and Icon Responses to determine what happens when the Event Icon Event is triggered (e.g., a sound is played, a Variable Icon Variable is updated).

Event Icon Events are useful to streamline repetitive Icon Responses sequences in an Experience Icon Experience. Instead of adding the same Icon Responses multiple times, you can simply reference a Event Icon Event, which holds the desired Icon Responses, using an Icon Event Response.

For example, imagine you are creating a motor task where participants need to pop a balloon by touching it in the environment. To ensure consistency in the Experience Icon Experience, you want the same actions to occur anytime a balloon is popped during the Experience Icon Experience (e.g play a “pop” sound, blow confettis and update the participant’s score variable). To do this without having to add the same Icon Responses on the balloons, you can use an Event Icon Event! You could create an Event Icon Event with the desired Icon Responses (in our case a Icon Audio Response, a Icon Particle Effect Response and a Icon Variable Response). Then, you could reference the Event Icon Event where needed. This ensures every balloon pop has the same behaviour and makes it easier to change it for every balloon if necessary.

How Can I Create an Event?

You can create an Event Icon Event from the Experience Dashboard.
