Step 1: Install Git Credential Manager

Install Git Credential Manager (GCM) on your device by following the instructions on this page. If you are using a Mac, you'll first need to download Homebrew.

Once installed, restart your computer.

Note

If you have been using multiple GitHub accounts or you're using a shared computer where other users have their own GitHub accounts, you may need to change who is signed into the Git Credential Manager. In the search bar of your computer, type Control Panel. Navigate to User Accounts | Credential Manager and click the GitHub entry. Update the username and password to your own GitHub account information. Then proceed with Step 2.
